The Guilds of Ahi

A densely populated narrative painting presents the world of an Ahi guild through tiers of craftsmen, scholars, merchants, musicians, and religious figures gathered around an ornate gate marked “Ahilik Ocağı.” Arched pathways and ribbon-like inscriptions organize the crowded scene, while a central bearded judge or elder holding scales anchors the composition. Flattened perspective, outlined forms, patterned garments, and emblematic gestures recall Ottoman miniature traditions, rendered with the directness and vivid storytelling of folk illustration.
