Beneath the Ancient Boughs

A monumental, fantastical tree dominates the composition, its twisting trunks and exposed roots rendered with expressive brown linework and layered ochre washes. A tiny blue-clad figure stands at the base with arms outstretched, emphasizing the tree’s immense scale and lending the scene a playful, storybook character. The pale open background and low green ground keep attention fixed on the sculptural complexity of the branching form, while the dark surrounding mat heightens its theatrical presence.
