Mrs Beeston and the Technomage

A publicity image created for Elizabeth Lang's novel about a young woman who is The Chosen One, but, owing to an error in calculation, was located at the wrong point in the time - when she was enjoying retirement in her garden. However, the universe needs saving, and she's the one to do it! Tragically, Elizabeth passed away before the book was published - a great loss. This is still one of my favourite illustrations, and subjects, of all time!
