A warmly lit documentary photograph captures several people gathered around a Día de los Muertos altar, their faces painted as calaveras and their clothing accented with flowers and embroidered patterns. Candle flames illuminate the group from below, while marigolds, papel picado, offerings, and decorated surfaces recede into the richly textured darkness, giving the scene a communal and ceremonial presence.
