I identify as a Russian-Jewish woman. So, when I was 12 years old, I had my Batmizvah. This was a very important event in my life for me because it had made me secure in my religion. I went to a Jewish private school up until 5th grade, which is when I transferred to the NPS school system. Since I am also Russian, we included some Russian elements in my Batmizvah, such as music, food, and family. Everyone had such a great time at this event, and I am so happy that i was the one that made it possible. By being secure with my religion, I feel so much better about my identity. My daily life has also become so much better for me because I will never have to question this part of my identity ever again, and it is like a giant boulder being lifted off of my chest.
