The Suitcase Left Behind

A documentary-style photograph presents a muddy waste ground beneath a dark, rounded hillside, with a battered red suitcase and scattered debris occupying the foreground. Distant houses, power pylons, and heavy cloud compress the landscape into a bleak, unsettled setting, while the stark caption below records a disappearance and violent death dated Friday 22nd September 1972. The contrast between the ordinary domestic object and the restrained, desolate landscape gives the work the gravity of an archival witness.
