Against the Burning Horizon

A dramatic torn-paper collage assembles fragments of wildfire terrain, dense ember-like foliage, smoke-darkened slopes, and blazing orange light. Small silhouetted figures and a close firefighter in protective gear give the vast, turbulent scene a human scale, while irregular white paper edges divide the composition into shifting planes. The work carries the urgency of documentary imagery but heightens it through theatrical cropping, saturated color, and a stark contrast between shadowed observers and the engulfing fire.
