1942 — CONTROL BECOMES SYSTEMATIC -Birkenau becomes a major part of the Auschwitz system, including mass murder. -Animal Farm: Napoleon gains power while the pigs receive special privileges. “No animal shall sleep in a bed with sheets.” 1943 — HIERARCHY AND SEPARATION -Fences, guard towers, and controlled areas restrict prisoners' movement. -Animal Farm: The pigs separate themselves from the other animals and move into the farmhouse. “Some animals are more equal than others.”
