Prayer at the Checkpoint

A narrative contemporary painting shows a kneeling woman clutching a rosary before a uniformed ICE officer, whose back dominates the foreground. Behind them, a bright church tower and cross rise against a turbulent blue sky, while utility lines and the roadway extend the scene into an uncertain civic landscape. Strong verticals and contrasting positions create a tense encounter between vulnerability, authority, faith, and public power.
