Face Beneath the Gesture

A close, confrontational portrait emerges through dense layers of oil, with the facial features partially dissolved beneath sweeping strokes and sculptural ridges of paint. The cropped composition presses the figure against a nearly black ground, while vivid green marks at the left and scattered red accents animate the otherwise muted surface. Thick impasto, scraped passages, and downward drips give the work a raw, unsettled presence, balancing recognizable human form with near-abstraction.
