The Physician and the Go Player

A hand-drawn historical scene shows a seated figure in a green robe leaning over a Go board while a yellow-robed physician examines or treats his exposed back. Dark contour lines define the figures and clothing, while selective washes of ochre, teal, and brown give the scene the character of an illustrated account of traditional Chinese medicine. Cropped decorative figures in the upper corner and the angled board add narrative detail to the otherwise open composition.
