Sammy Hughes explores the still life through fruit, flowers, vessels, musical instruments, and insects, moving between richly textured oil painting, finely detailed watercolor on vellum, and patterned screenprint. Their compositions balance close observation with expressive brushwork, saturated color, and, at times, intricate geometric design. Warm domestic abundance, theatrical floral arrangements, and contemplative rows of vessels give the work distinct emotional registers. Together, these images make familiar objects feel vivid, tactile, and quietly enigmatic.
