Bear Beneath the Storm

A dark, tactile painting portrays a bear hunched low against a nearly black ground, its powerful body arcing across the composition beneath a band of turbulent gray sky. Rust, umber, and muted violet marks break through the animal’s shadowed fur, while the lowered head and planted paws create a tense, watchful posture. Broad, visibly worked strokes give the creature a weighty presence and an elemental, nocturnal gravity.
