Sbongakonke Zondi

I chose the protea artwork to challenge myself with the different combinations of watercolour, and I also found it really pretty, with pink being one of my favourite colours. I wanted to improve my skills and also explore how colours work, and I found it really pretty and appealing to me. The techniques that were the most difficult were recreating the green leaf shades, as they required lots of detail. I had to blend in the different colours along with the shades, as well as create the outlines of each of the leaves, which also needed a lot of detail. Firstly, I didn’t believe I could do what I did in my artwork, and overall, I am proud of it, but mostly the petals. I would like to improve my outlines and how colours can bleed into one another, and lastly, how to mix colours using the colour wheel to form the needed colour.
