Rainbow Dinner Party

A densely populated narrative tableau unfolds beneath an enormous rainbow, moving from a twilight neighborhood of peaked houses and parked cars at left to an exuberant indoor gathering at right. Stylized figures walk, dine, read, pour wine, and play music amid patterned wallpaper, bookshelves, flowers, animals, and handwritten fragments that give the surface the intimacy of a personal chronicle. Strong contour lines, decorative borders, flattened perspective, and carefully repeated motifs create the feeling of an illustrated tapestry or contemporary folk-art mural.
