Embers Beneath the Ruins

Mixed media on canvas · Abstract Expressionism

A tall, heavily worked abstraction is organized around a weathered ochre column or passage, rising through a field of black, rust, crimson, and chalky white. Scraped surfaces, tangled linear marks, and fragments of gridded geometry suggest a fractured architectural interior, while the central form remains luminous against the dense upper darkness. The composition gradually opens toward the pale lower edge, giving the piece a sense of descent, erosion, and hard-won light.
