A solitary ceramic vessel stands against a deep black ground, its broad shoulders and narrow neck emerging through energetic horizontal strokes. The stark arrangement recalls a traditional still life, but the rough, visibly worked surface unsettles the object’s solidity, allowing areas of white and charcoal gray to flicker across its rounded body. A low tabletop anchors the composition, while the intense contrast gives the modest form a contemplative, almost monumental presence.
