Partners Beneath the Gray

A boldly painted double portrait brings two formally dressed figures into close, cropped view, their smiling faces set against a broad field of stormy gray. The man’s dark blue suit and red tie anchor the left side while the woman’s luminous blond hair and blue garment create a bright counterweight below. Expressive facial planes, visible scraping, and energetic marks give the piece an intentionally direct, handmade character, balancing public composure with a slightly uncanny theatricality.
