This artwork explores the relationship between my younger and older self, reflecting how we grow and change while remaining connected to who we once were. The older version of me looks at my younger self with a sense of reflection, representing the distance between childhood and adolescence. Although time has separated these two versions of me, they remain connected through shared memories, experiences and identity. The younger self represents innocence, joy and simplicity, while the older self symbolises maturity, self-awareness and personal growth. The hibiscus flowers, created using acrylic paint in the background, symbolise beauty, growth and the passing of time, reinforcing the idea that change is a natural part of life. Their presence also creates a visual connection between the two figures, suggesting that despite the years separating them, they are part of the same journey. I used colour pencils to create realistic portraits that capture the emotions and expressions of each version of myself. Ultimately, this artwork communicates that growing up does not mean leaving your younger self behind, but embracing the person you once were as you continue to grow into the person you are becoming.
