Anatomy of Endless War

An oil painting presents a surreal, tightly compressed knot of elongated human forms, their limbs and faces folding into one another beneath a turbulent, smoke-filled sky. A distant horizon and barren reddish ground suggest a landscape marked by conflict, while a smaller figure is partially sheltered within the contorted mass. The polished modeling of the bodies heightens the sense of physical strain, and the theatrical darkness gives the scene the weight of an allegory about war’s damage to ordinary lives.
