Roses Beneath Wide Brims

A dark, theatrical painting presents two closely paired figures in broad-brimmed hats, their faces emerging from near-black surroundings in fractured yellow-green and ochre highlights. Each holds a vivid red rose, creating a quiet visual dialogue between the figures while the sweeping hat brims and crossed arms establish a strong, compressed composition. Rough, visible handling gives the scene an introspective, nocturnal intensity, with the flowers providing its sharpest notes of warmth and life.
