Early evening with a small family of elephants in the tall, sun-dried grass of Amboseli, their heavy forms moving across an expansive plain beneath a wide, luminous sky. The composition gives the animals quiet monumentality: with the matriarch at center while a younger elephant another lifts its trunk in a graceful salute to a nearby herd out of frame. Soft, even light and distant blue-gray hills flatten the horizon and lend the work a calm, spacious stillness, while the fine surface detail in the skin, tusks, and grasses keeps the encounter immediate and grounded.
