Lanterns in Motion

A vivid documentary photograph captures a crowded Japanese festival procession, with participants in dark happi coats and bright orange-trimmed caps surrounding an ornate portable shrine. The shrine’s gilded woodwork and glowing lanterns rise above the tightly packed crowd, while motion blur, overlapping bodies, and candid expressions convey the physical energy of the celebration. Cool blue-black clothing contrasts sharply with warm gold, orange, and red details, giving the street scene a lively evening atmosphere.
