The Quiet Interruption

A carefully rendered figurative painting places a bespectacled man in a brown suit on a chair within a stark tiled room. He sits with lowered gaze and loosely folded hands, while a small television, a yellow-trimmed cap, dangling cables, a moonlit window, and a white cup create an atmosphere of strange domestic displacement. The ordinary setting is made uncanny through the theatrical arrangement of props and the subject’s inward, suspended expression.
