Horse in Amber Shadow

A powerful horse emerges from near-black surroundings, its head turned slightly toward the viewer while one foreleg lifts in a poised, forward-reaching gesture. Deeply modeled facial features, flowing mane, and muscular shoulders are picked out by a narrow amber light, giving the portrait the solemn presence of an old master study. The surrounding darkness dissolves the body into the background, leaving the animal suspended between motion and stillness.
