The Amber Oni

A seated horned oni dominates the composition, its broad, fur-like patterned mantle framing a gleaming masklike face and an unsettling open grin. The figure’s heavy posture and folded limbs emerge from a nearly black ground, while small red and ochre accents punctuate the lower garments and hands. Richly modeled surfaces, deep shadow, and a restricted earthen glow give the piece the solemn presence of an old master’s dark fantasy portrait.
