The Flower Bearer

A richly detailed Orientalist interior unfolds around a group of women reclining and conversing within an ornate salon, while a standing figure presents a flower-laden tray. Arched architecture opens onto a sunlit courtyard, extending the room into layered space, and patterned textiles, carved surfaces, and heavy drapery create an atmosphere of opulent stillness. Carefully modeled figures and decorative detail give the scene the polished character of nineteenth-century academic painting.
