Figures Within Fragments

A monochrome graphite composition arranges several partially obscured figures and objects within a weathered, collage-like structure. The central woman is cropped by a broad horizontal band, her face reduced to lips and shadow beneath the brim or edge above her, while birdlike marks and sweeping forms animate her clothing. A smaller side-profile portrait occupies the lower left, balanced by a shallow dish and angular dark shapes at right. The layered framing, rubbed surfaces, and deliberate interruptions give the work the feel of a found photograph or fragmented memory.
