Celestial Script and Shadow

A monumental circular astronomical sculpture fills the frame, its dark metal surface inscribed with luminous Chinese characters, symbols, and finely divided bands. A slender gnomon casts sharp shadows across the gridded interior, while curved metal pointers converge near the lower edge. Sunlight, the cropped figure of a gloved attendant, and the surrounding dry grass place the work firmly outdoors, giving the close view an observational, almost ceremonial character.
