Festival Beneath the Crescent Moon

A vibrant folk-inflected painting captures a Peruvian festival unfolding through a colonial plaza at dusk. Elaborately masked dancers sweep across the cobblestones in feathered costumes while women in layered skirts perform beside a lively brass band, with church towers, balconies, flags, and a decorated arch framing the procession. The crowded composition moves in rhythmic diagonals from the foreground dancers toward the illuminated square, while the deep blue sky and rising crescent moon lend the celebration a theatrical, nocturnal atmosphere.
