Madonna Above the Tempest

A crowned Madonna stands calmly at the center of a turbulent, vividly painted field, her white and gold robes emerging against swirling greens, violets, blues, and fiery reds. Beneath her, curling blue forms suggest waves or rushing water, while expressive humanlike figures and fragmented shapes gather around the base. The devotional subject is treated with emotional intensity rather than iconographic restraint, using dense, animated strokes and strong contrasts to create a sense of spiritual protection amid upheaval.
