Marked in Quiet Strength

A tightly framed portrait presents a solemn figure in direct gaze, their copper-toned hair and layered bead necklaces set against a deep green-black ground. Pale, weathered markings cross the forehead, cheeks, and chin, creating a strong vertical rhythm across the face while emphasizing the sitter’s stillness and presence. Fine rendering of skin texture, individual hairs, beads, and cracked pigment gives the work a strikingly tactile, nearly photographic authority.
