Portrait Beneath the Radiant Hood

A tightly framed contemporary portrait presents an older man with a broad, expressive face and an abundant white beard, set against softly blurred green foliage and circular points of light. Fine, hair-by-hair rendering gives the beard remarkable volume, while the dark head covering and vivid red, yellow, and green braided or woven forms create a luminous frame around his face. The direct gaze and close cropping lend the piece an intimate, quietly dignified presence.
