Portrait Beyond the Frame

A vivid street photograph captures a young man seated in a rickshaw, wrapped in a richly patterned red cloth, while another person photographs him with a smartphone in the foreground. The phone’s screen creates a smaller echo of the portrait, adding a playful self-referential layer to the scene. Behind him, wet pavement, parked motorcycles, dense apartment buildings, and a narrow urban passage establish the lively texture of a South Asian city.
