Woman with Black Cat

A vigorously painted interior scene presents a seated woman cradling a black cat beside a tall glass vase of angular purple flowers. Heavy dark contours, scraped passages, and visibly worked strokes give the figure and furnishings a restless, tactile presence, while the cat forms a dense central silhouette against the woman’s pale arms and orange garment. The close composition feels intimate yet psychologically charged, with the floral arrangement rising like a counterweight to the quiet exchange between human and animal.
