Vessel Beneath the Little Boat

A large rounded ceramic vessel rises from a dark ground, its domed lid richly decorated with looping, incised scrollwork and faded bands of rose, cream, and brown. Two small seated figures occupy a boatlike finial at the top, creating a striking contrast between the monumental body and the intimate sculptural detail above. Weathered surfaces, softened contours, and uneven coloration give the piece the presence of an excavated or ceremonial object.
